Arrived here with my sailing boat in late Jan 2019 to stop for some repairs. The marina is well set up with pontoons and good depths, really helpful and friendly staff, mooring assistance, hot showers, 24hr on-site security and a cafe/bar (open Tue-Sun 08.30-15.00ish this winter; longer hours in summer). The marina manager was really helpful arranging local repair services. The location is immediately next to Taranto old town (with local provisions stores, butcher, bakery, fish shops, fruit shops, marine store, cafes, etc) and around 2km from the new town (with lots more shops and services). Lots to explore in the town, including an impressive archeological museum. Also, it's 5-10 minutes to walk from the marina to the bus/coach station or the railway station if you want to explore the wider area or reach airports (direct bus to Bari airport in just over an hour). I stayed here through two Force 8 gales with no issues. Some minor swell into the marina from passing tugs and other boats, but nothing serious. There is a bit of noise from the nearby road (including occasional emergency vehicles) and the marina is directly opposite some parts of the commercial port, so not the prettiest bit of the Med, but neither particularly bothered me. Thanks for all the help and the friendly welcome!
