Waiting for the ferry usually takes at least two or three hours. This time should be spent as comfortably as possible. Although the existing terminal offers the opportunity to buy snacks and drinks (to a limited extent), it could be complemented by content similar to airports. Of course, not in terms of buying expensive items, you could at least offer maps of the most beautiful beaches on the island of Sardinia, or the option to buy leisure items (card games, board games, ...)

If you are catching a ferry check the companys website and note the directions to the port you want. There is more than one port but two are cargo ports I think. For ferries to Corsica and Sardinia follow signs for \Embark Passengers\ or the Italian equivalent thereof. If you made your booking on line then you probably won't have tickets. To get these you need to go to the Billeteria just inside the port. There is no obvious place to park so find a space (this is Italy) and take your booking confirmation to the first floor. I wasn't asked for passports but probably worth having them to hand. Relax, everything happens in the port at a pace varying between stopped and panic-driven with much arm waving. Enjoy it.

Take a guide boat tour of the port, it was cheap and you get to see the city from a cool view. I highly recommend.
