One of the best experiences we had in Matera. This museum was built out of pure passion by Marco's dad, and so much effort has been taken to preserve its original use. Our guide Martina gave a brief introduction of Matera, followed by the building and how it came to be an olive oil museum, followed by a tour of the place and how the space was used back in the day. After the tour, we were taught about how olive oil is graded and tasted and were given some olive oil from Marco's own family farm to taste. I could not recommend this place more!

Very enjoyable and interesting tour. Marco was very accommodating in arranging a tour for us in the evening and his father Severino was a great tour guide, and very passionate about his olive oil. Definitely worth a visit!

The museum is very interesting, especially if you like history. The guide was very knowledgeable and did the tour in English to accommodate everyone. There weren't many of us on the tour, so he was able to spend a lot of time answering all our questions and showing us everything.
