Hidden gem in Venice. Oliva Nera was recommended to me by the owner of a Michelin star restaurant nearby. One could easily miss it on a little street with many places to eat- but this one is the star. Don’t miss their tempura zucchini stuffed with fresh mozzarella and finished with fried orange zest. Isabella and her family run the place and it is really one of the best restaurants in Venice- ask for their recommendations of the day. Even better they have rare outdoor seating for a venue of such quality.

Fantastic food, great host This place was recommended to us by a Venetian and we loved it. It was a fine dining experience with a great host who made us feel very welcome and made recommendations suited to our tastes. The menu is very focused, and as we went there twice during our visit, we could try several dishes - they were all delicious. My three year old daughter went personally to the host to tell her how she loved her ravioli. The prices are higher than standard touristic restaurants, but the quality of the cuisine is substantially higher and our bill was comparable with other good restaurants in Venice.
The seafood spagetti is excellent! The quality is definitely worth the price. Also i need to credit the waiters in the restaurant. They were open and willing to listen to the guests to cater to their needs. They have the best qualities you can find in a restaurant.
Had a wonderful dining experience at Oliva Nera. Great menu (also specialties of the day!) and welcoming host! Kudos to the chef and the team!
The zucchini stuffed flowers are a speciality but really not worth trying. Oily and flavourless. The tuna pasta to share and the sea bass tasted much better but overall im afraid an average meal.
