Worst experience on our 2 week trip in Italy. Some people are just shameless, unfriendly and take tourists for stupid. They charged us extra for a large room (35m2) and then they did not give us the large room. When we asked to give us the extra money back, they said either leave or shut up. All this happened at 8 pm the day before Christmas with my wife pregnant. They also only told us after we arrived, that the Metro station nearby is closed for a longer period of time. Just dont go there!

We had a great stay here in Relais Sistina. The room was clean and tastefully designed. Had a great feel to it. They do not have 24 hour front desk - great wifi.

Pros first, the location was great and the room was nice, matched up our expectations, that's all. Cons now, the host is terrible, couldn't care less about what's going on, didn't bother giving us directions, we've been searching for an hour, walking around with our bags around Rome's center. After finally finding the place, the host texted us, saying that we haven't paid the tourist tax and that the lady at the 1 hour in a day check in counter had been waiting for us for a long time. Wouldn't recommend, 2/5.

The WORST experience of my life was dealing with apartment owner Mariastella. As this is a 'luxury apartment' they do not have a 24 hour check in desk so I emailed the owner 4 months prior to arriving in Rome, to let her know we would check in late, to which she was happy to accommodate. Due to a delayed flight from London to Rome, we arrived an hour later than expected. As soon as my flight touched down, I was bombarded with calls and messages from Mariastella asking of my whereabouts. I explained the delay and that we were on our way. She proceeded to tell me to "Hurry up" and that she is "tired" and that I shouldn't take the metro but take a cab, just so I could arrive earlier for her convenience. She then text me again while I was in transit to the apartment, to threaten me that she has left and gone home because she couldn't wait anymore. When we arrived at the check in desk at Relais Sistina an hour after originally expected, Mariastella verbally abused me and my friend on arrival. She was screaming, shouting and swearing due to the reason that she had to wait an extra hour to welcome us after the check in desk closed. She screamed at us in our faces and swore in both English and Italian. She is the most unprofessional individual I have ever encountered, and I have spent my life travelling. She refused to help us with our luggage, did not show us how the lift operates and was more interested in screaming at us because she is 'above' waiting for guests who are delayed in the air. I would stay well clear of ever staying at this apartment, unless you want to be verbally abused by a hugely unprofessional individual who has no grasp on how to deal with members of the public, let alone people who spend hundreds of euros to stay in her accommodation. Worst hotel experience of my life!!!!!!
