This basilica is called holy cross in Jerusalem because the flooring was once laid with the soil brought from Jerusalem. Standing in the basilica was equal to standing in Jerusalem. It houses the relics of the holy cross: the wood of the cross, a nail of the cross, two thorns, the tablet with INRI. One of the seven basilicas of pilgrimage. To visit also the exquisite st Helens chapel.

We stayed next to this. It lovely on the inside and there is a bit at the back which has some holy relics. Well worth a visit
