Spectacular doline (pulo in italian) on a plateau in Apulia, Italy. Located at about 6 kilometers north-east of the city of Altamura it is the largest doline in the region. Other dolines in the region are Pulicchio di Gravina, Pulo di Molfetta and Pulicchio di Toritto. The perimeter, measured on the edge of the doline, is around 1,800 meters. The depth is around 70–75 meters. The northern side of the doline, almost vertical, has many crannies and natural caves, probably inhabited by hominids and prehistoric men. Altamura Man has been discovered very close to this area. A pleasant trip, also with children. Not recommended for wheelchair users in view of the hilly and stony surroundings

Amazing place in the middle of nowhere! Wild nature all around and a stunning silence broken only by a warm wind. It's like a jump into the past. Simply magic!

Pulo di Altamura is a doline located on the Murge plateau. It is the largest doline in that region and it is located about 6 kilometers north-west of the city of Altamura. It shares the local toponym pulo with other large dolines of the region
