beautiful historic boats, but sadly, they don't seem to be well cared for

Was a good museum and with the 10 Euro per person price tag. We didn't almost two hours here seeing the extensive naval history that Venice has played a part it. Lots of models and historic cannons on display. The staff was mostly friendly and the building was easy to navigate. The downside were that as you progressed up the levels the English translations begin to disappear and you find yourself rushing through the final floors. It left a little to be desired, but all in all was a good stop.

Very nice museum. The pavillon with the were you can take a closer look at the real historical boats is really fascinating!

The museum was 5 floors of naval history. We took kids 6 & under & they enjoyed seeing all the weapons & ship models. The entrance fee includes the ship pavillion as well which is full of all kinds of old ships! They have a restroom which is always nice to find.

Very basic and almost forgotten museum at the edge of Venice. The exhibits themselves are beautiful artifacts- everything from cannon to Chinese junk models. The rooms are cold, so through staff are LITERALLY hugging electric heaters. Half of the exhibits are either labelled in Italian only, or don't have a label at all. And context is missing a lot of the time. The museum has the actual brass nameplate from the battleship Vittorio Veneto, but the model of the ship is at the other side of the room. No significance is given to showing through sheer since of scale involved. The same thing happens again and again- here's a giant cannon, then, in the following room, here's a model of the ship which would have carried it. Why not link then, and make it more interactive? The part you can't miss is around the corner, in what they call the 'ships pavilion'. There's a full Italian motor torpedo boat on display, but again, very little information about it or it's use. For fun, check out the 'shell collection'. I thought it was naval shells. It's seashells, over 3000 of them!

A great museum at a good price. Our son loves boats so we figured he would like this museum and we were right. It has a lot in it and a lot to read about but mostly a lot to look at. So many boats and canons with great detail on them and at the top there is a really nice seashell exhibit which was a nice bonus. It gets to be a little much at the end but as with any museum see what you want and skip the rest.
