Really fun little place, tucked away in what seems to be an abandoned site! Only a few small rooms so doesn't take more than an hour. They had a Commodore 64 wired up to play games off tape!

Interesting museum, but too bad everything is in Italian. Tgis museum is located within the citadella galileana.

Good exhibits, small museum & free. It was difficult to find information on this museum on the web. Some old websites mislead, particularly about opening hours. I got the impression these may he changeable from year to year, so your best bet is to visit to find out. In 2014 the opening hours are 12:00 to 18:00 from 17 July to 15 September. Two large halls in separate buildings. In hall A are electromagnetic exhibits including a demonstration of how a linear motor might work for a railway dating back to 1900! This hall was unattended when I visited. In hall B are the computing exhibits in three rooms looked after by an attendant. These included mechanical calculating machines dating back to 1865, electromechanical calculators and some early personal computers including Apples and an IBM PS/2. There was also what seemed to be a mockup of a Cray. For me the highlight was an early (Italian?) valve computer which was literally the size of a small room, with separate units for power, arithmetic unit, general register, and what appeared to be a ferrite core memory. There were lots of display panels, but exclusively in Italian. There was a very small gift shop. Good to visit if you are an enthusiast but perhaps a niche museum.

Interessante. Vecchi ricordi di un adolescenza curiosa passata intorno a questi macchinari. Allora se ne percepiva il funzionamento semplice e meccanico. Oggi la miniaturizzazione ne nasconde la complessità.
