Following the dramatic events of 11 September, 2001, Fondazione Spinola has sought to bridge Genoa’s Western and Arabic communities by promoting the integration of minorities into the city’s urban fabric. The project entitled "An equitable future" is funded by Fondazione Spinola and provides incentives for Moroccan children under 15 years of age to attend school. This initiative, directed at Moroccan children who sell flowers and other items on the streets of Genoa, seeks to work with their family members/guardians to provide guarantees that the children regularly attend school. The project has given young immigrants the opportunity to study and receive training and has contributed to educating students about the values of global citizenship and peaceful coexistence between different peoples.
