Inspired by the famous Italian song festival of Sanremo it was a huge success at the time. 1967 marked an important turning point. This was the year that Sapientino came into being synonymous with educational games still today. Sapientino is based on Mario Clementoni’s simple yet ingenious idea: “Children put all their powers of concentration in play and retain in their memory whatever they take pleasure in. And play is their greatest pleasure.” Playtime has the potential to become an invaluable channel for educational content because it can strike a balance between entertainment and learning leaving a mark on children as they explore compare and imagine and helping them to grow into the adults of the future. The learning through play approach set us apart from the rest and prompted us to undertake an important internationalisation process.
