Interesting collection in a remarkable setting.
This large partly constructed palace is located on the banks of the River Po in the city of Piacenza in Northern Italy. In 1556, Ottavio Farnese, Duke of Castro and of Parma, also became Duke of Piacenza and initially set up his court there. Ottavio decided on a residence in the city possibly because he could feel more secure due to the presence of a Spanish garrison
Very helpful staff and nice guide. The building is very impressive and well maintained. We only saw the art exhibition on our tour as the rest of the wings were temporarily closed. The guide was very insightful about the art pieces, freely discussing with us the themes and motifs of the paintings. The tour was in Italian only, although I understand that there are also some English tours, but under special conditions.
Nice museum
