Because of poor signage this famous explorer's childhood home proved difficult to find but we managed to find it near the Porta Soprana Medieval gates just outside Genoa's 14th-century walls and not far from Piazza De Ferrari. It's a very quaint reconstructed stone house among much newer surrounding buildings. It's a popular tourist attraction but unfortunately it was closed when we visited. However, really there's not much to see.

Look alike house rebuilt as a reminder. It has the advantage of showing how such an important person lived. The area is in total contrast. Large buildings compared to the house. It is worth the visit.
When I went there there was not even a sign posted. Everything closed. I only recognized it by the previous photos. Still nice to pass by.
Beautiful little house, must see in Genova
the house of Columbus himself !!! very interesting place to walk. A piece of history that is preserved. I think it is a must-see
