Quality sushi in Catania! I went there at 19:30 during the off-season, so I was the only one there. Nevertheless, the staff was very welcoming. I tried out their Sicilian-style \Spadoku\ sushi roll and the Perlage roll. I was hesitant at first to try the Sicilian sushi since experimental fusion sushi are either just covered with a ton of sauce or they're just too wacky in terms of flavor, but I was actually pleasantly surprised with this one. The swordfish, aubergine, pistachio and tomato went quite well together with the rice. The flavors were balanced and well-executed. Next, the main highlight was the Perlage roll. The chef came and brought it personally to explain what everything was, and just by listening his enthusiasm you can tell he had put a lot of care and passion into making it. The sushi itself, just by looking at it, you'll know that it couldn't go wrong. To top it off, they've used Sicilian red prawns instead of just regular prawns which made it even more amazing! The prices are a bit high. Especially if you're a big eater, but it's a nice place to have a special evening. Definitely recommend this place!
Didn't convince me at all. The roll I had was full of mayonnaise and the fish seemed to be cooked, even though it didn't say on the menu. Taste wise dull and I think the chef has no idea what sushi really is. Not recommended.
So tonight we tried a sushi restaurant here in Catania, a city that is home to a world famous fresh fish market. Internet reviews for the restaurant ranged from 4.3 to 4.8. It should have been a big red flag when not only did they not have sake, but the waiter did not even know what sake was! We did enjoy a nice bottle of Sicilian wine and nice shrimp tartar, but the spicy tuna roll (my benchmark) was made with cooked tuna fish that tasted like it came out of a can!

Super elegante e carino, il Ginger offre a tutti gli amanti del sushi, irresistibili pietanze da assaporare che consiglio di accostare a Cocktail deliziosi e vini di qualità. Se stai pensando a dove poter assaporare il sushi più buono di catania, questo è il posto giusto. Non ami il sushi? Nessun problema, troverai un menú pizza a tua completa disposizione che permetterà agli amanti della pizza (come me) di degustarla. Ottimo locale dove poter trascorrere un bellissimo dopo cena brindando in compagnia e assaporando vini e drink “della casa”. Edoardo e il resto del personale super disponibili e professionali, attenti a tutte le esigenze della clientela.
