Great to visit but not a *must*! I enjoyed my time at the Capitoline Museums but I found the collection to be less interesting than most other museums in Rome and Italy. The staff were helpful and the flow of the museum was marked on the floor. The special exhibit was hard to find and we had to ask how to get there because there were no signs designating the elevators needed to go there. The descriptions of items are few, but are normally available in multiple languages. Great views overlooking the forum as well.

Beautiful museum with a vast collection of artifacts. Excellent place to spend time and learn about Rome. Book tickets online in advance. Excellent hygiene practices.
A really large museum in several buildings. Not as big as the Musei Vaticani, but you still need a few hours to see everything. The collection of sculptures is really amazing, you will see many famous copies of Greek originals, as well as original of Marcus Aurelius Statue. But other items are also worth it. Attention, now in the time of Covid19 I strongly recommend buying tickets online, at the box office they have only a few for each day.
A must if you visit Rome. Astonishing architecture, busts of emperors and philosophers, also the “lupa capitolina”... Book in advance via online so you don’t have to wait for the next available time slot.
There's lots to see here and it should be a really educational experience. The problem is the very poor descriptions on the exhibits and the lack of guided tours. The exhibits are badly labelled with complicated, overly technical English , which assumes the reader is already an expert in Roman history. They don't have any guided tours, but obviously should. Despite Covid, and very few visitors, the ticketing staff still manage to make you feel unwelcome. Also, at 15 euro per ticket, this isn't a cheap experience. It's a real pity that Rome can't do a better job of explaining the fascinating history that's in front of your face.
