It's Saturday, lunch time. We are in Caorle. Being a fishing town, Caorle has always based its cuisine on a particular product: fish.We knew Antico Petronia was a great restaurant and that it is predominantly a fish restaurant and so we decided to eat right there. It is located in the historic center of Caorle. Right next to a long sandy beach and its promenade. We were delighted by the fact that the building dates back to 1910-1912 and that was the first restaurant in Caorle. The staff is extremely attentive and friendly. Impeccable and highly competent service. As for the food, everything was unforgettable, from appetizers to desserts. We are seafood lovers and that is why our choice was the fish menu. We started with risotto di pesce and lasagne di melanzane con ragu di branzino. Then we continued with grigliata di pesce and fritto misto. We ate extremely well, everything was delicious. All compliments to the chef. The dessert thrilled me the most besides, more than delicious fish specialties. It’s a typical homemade dessert, called Polenta dolce di Caorle. The name derives from the shape that reproduces a polenta, so much so that in some cases, to strike the imagination more, it is served in a taier. Wonderful afternoon with enjoyment of food and beautiful ambience.

I know this is more of a fish place so I shouldn't complain too much but the pizza marinara was terrible. It was obviously left in the oven for way too long. Tomato sauce was flavorless. The portion of grilled vegetables as a side was not even seasoned. No olive oil, no spices... nothing. Just got a few pieces of very sad looking zucchini, eggplant and peppers. Terrible. Mixed salad was okay and fresh. The only reason for two stars is that they had these plant based options and I managed to get full.
The food was poor. The clams served were the smallest I've ever seen. The crab had very little meat. The tomato sauce was bland. All three dishes lacked flavour. The staff were indifferent to the point of rudeness. Never again.
Good lovely, service a little off. EU2.50 per head service charge added to bill which was not worth it.
