Piazza San Gaetano
N/A
A free concert there by the Scarlatti Academia. Disastrous acoustics. The harpsichord hardly perceptible. The church is an ugly baroque pile. Why bother to visit it?

The two columns on the facade reveal that this church was built into a Roman temple, dedicated by the emperor Tiberius to the Dioscuri. The ancient facade fell to the ground because of an earthquake in the seventeenth century, and the grandiose baroque paintings suffered severely from WWII bombings. After long and careful restorations, it is now possible to admire what is left of them, which is still worth seeing.
