AEGEE is the "European Students' Forum", an organization that promotes cooperation, communication and integration in the European academic environment. It's a non-governmental, politically independent and no-profit organization, open to all students and young workers of any faculty and discipline. The original name (EGEE) is inspired by the Egeo Sea, one of the places where the democracy borns and by first parliament formed at the beginning of the French Revolution, the "Etats Généraux" (General States). Now the organization has 13,000 members, active in more than 200 university in 40 European states; this makes it the largest interdisciplinary European student association. AEGEE-Salerno, as well as being one of the oldest sites in Europe, is considered one of the major in Italy, both for its history and for its activities. It was founded on 3 February 1989 and since that day has organized and hosted a large number of events. The connection of AEGEE-Salerno with the University has increased in recent years thanks to the role of our association to help the Erasmus students to integrate in the University. In this area, the collaboration between AEGEE-Salerno and the University was also definitively sanctioned by the Foreign Hosts Convention. Based on this, our association is committed to both welcoming and accommodating foreign students and facilitating their integration within the Salernitan University. Helping foreign students in their small everyday issues, pointing out the most enjoyable aspects of our lifestyle, guiding us to visit the most beautiful places in our city and our areas, make Aegee members of real volunteer promoters of the image of Salerno in Europe.
