The tower erected by Count Roger I of Sicily, in the eleventh century, is part of a defensive system of the Norman age aimed at controlling the Simeto valley. In the following centuries it was the residence of important Sicilian families and in the seventeenth century it was also used as a prison.
It is ok if you're near there, but not a must-have.
