Stunning place Definitely worth seeing, both the ruins and going to the small chapel at the hill top. What's more interesting is the story of this place and reasons why these ruins are...ruins The scale and how such monasteries where build ages ago is amazing...

Incredible architecture in the middle of nowhere. It takes 20 min from Siena to reach the Abbey trough a beautiful countryside,Hills and wine yards surround the area. Free parking with a short walk (5min) to get to the Abbey Ticket entrance is 5 but it includes visit to the Abbey museum in the nearest town which is just 6km! Recommended!

We did a quick stop on this place on our way to San Gimignano. There’s not much to be seen, to enter the abbey you need to pay a small fee. We just looked at it from the outside and had a coffee at the cafeteria. They have amazing brioches and croissants . Perfect for a snack. There’s also a small chapel you can visit. In total you need around 1 hr. Parking is available for free.

Great place to visit. You can see the Eremo on the hill containing the famous \sword in the stone\ of San Galgano. Ten minutes walking from that, you can visit the ruins of the Abbey. The ticket for the Abbey is cheap and the place is well maintained.

It is a very cool and special place. I can only recommend a visit. We combined it with a nice hike from Monteciano through the forest and past the river. It was a great tour. San Galgano is certainly one of the highlights of northern tuskany
